The Company’s Social Responsibility Program
CertiCon participates in a number of benefit projects, and at the same time supports the efforts of its employees to help out in areas where they see shortcomings and need.
The company has a program in place to set clear and transparent rules for providing such support, called “CertiCon Social Responsibility”.
The program is designed to provide financial support for selected individuals and projects, usually in the form of a financial gift. It mainly supports projects with a positive social and environmental impact.
Public Education in Digital Literacy
Aware of the exceptional societal importance of educating the public in secure and efficient use of digital technologies, Certicon a.s. has long been supporting the introduction and development of the non-profit international concept of digital literacy and digital competencies, ECDL/ICDL, in the Czech Republic.
Certicon a.s. participates, among other things, in the development and operation of the national information system for ECDL testing, WASET, and provides the complete financial and material base for the ECDL-CZ working group, established at the Czech Society for Cybernetics and Informatics (ČSKI), which is the quality guarantor and national authority of the ECDL concept in the Czech Republic.
About the International ECDL/ICDL Concept
Originally the European ECDL (European Computer Driving License) project, it is now a world-wide educational and certification standard in the field of digital competencies, which has achieved long-term sustainability thanks to its high standard. The ECDL project is now internationally referred to as the ECDL/ICDL (European/International Certification of Digital Literacy and Digital Skills) concept.
The main benefit of the ECDL/ICDL concept is that through internationally standardized syllabi, it defines educational content that reflects the current needs of the labor market and the daily life of an individual in society, especially in the area of transferable digital competences, and at the same time offers an internationally recognized, standardized, objective and independent method of verifying educational results (so-called ECDL exams).
The scope of the ECDL/ICDL concept covers practically all areas in which digital technologies are used in everyday life. It includes the entire range of educational and certification programs in the field of digital competences, from programs for pupils and students of primary and secondary schools, through programs for employed, unemployed or digitally excluded persons, to programs intended for the general public or, conversely, for experts from various fields.
Digital competences are verified through practical tests in a real environment using standard desktop computers, laptops, tablets or mobile phones, various operating systems, commonly used applications, local networks and the Internet.
